Generic displays error E06: Battery voltage low

Medium severity Service soon

Can I ride home with this error?

Ride with caution. Safe to pedal without assist.

What it means

The controller has stopped assist to protect the battery because the voltage is too low. It can also show if the display's voltage setting (P03) does not match the battery. On generic displays the meaning of a code depends on the controller's communication protocol; this meaning is from the display maker's manual for this protocol.

Likely causes

  • Battery flat
  • Voltage setting (P03) wrong for your battery
  • Loose battery connection
  • Ageing battery

Symptoms

  • E06 shows
  • Assist cuts out, often on hills

How to fix it

  1. Charge the battery fully.
  2. Check the battery is seated firmly.
  3. Check P03 matches the voltage on your battery label.
  4. Never open the battery. If the code stays, take the bike to your dealer or an e-bike repair shop.
