What it does

Selects the communication protocol or makes the meter a source for copying settings.

Typical values

0 = LCD3 new protocol (works with LCD1/LCD2)
1 = LCD1/LCD2 old protocol
2 = data source for copying

Before you change it

A wrong value stops the display talking to the controller.
