BESST: Dealer programming (Bafang BESST)

Wheel size, speed limit and software updates are set by a dealer.

What it does

Bafang systems do not use generic P-codes. Wheel size, speed limit and firmware are changed by a Bafang dealer using the BESST tool, which is also used for diagnostics and controller updates.

Before you change it

  • In the UK, EU, Australia and New Zealand an e-bike (pedelec) may only assist up to 25 km/h with a 250 W motor; in the US, Class 1/2 bikes stop assisting at 20 mph and Class 3 at 28 mph. Raising the limit can make the bike illegal on public roads and can void your warranty and insurance.
