Bosch error 504: Speed signal distortion detected

Can I ride home with this error?
Ride with caution. Assistance may be switched off, but Bosch says you can always keep pedalling without the motor.
What it means
The speed signal looks wrong. Bosch reduces drive assistance until it is fixed. This code also appears if the speed signal has been tampered with (tuning).
Likely causes
- Spoke magnet moved or wrongly positioned
- Tuning device fitted
Symptoms
- Code 504 on the display
- Reduced assistance
How to fix it
- Check that the spoke magnet is in the correct position and adjust it if needed.
- Remove any tuning device; tuning is illegal on public roads and voids warranty.
- Switch the eBike system off, wait a few seconds, then switch it on again.
- If the code comes back, contact your Bosch eBike dealer.
