Bafang error 30: Communication fault

What it means

The display cannot exchange data with the controller over the system cable (EB-BUS). This is often a connector or cable problem.

Likely causes

• Loose or dirty connector
• Damaged display or EB-BUS cable
• Faulty display or controller
• Software problem

Symptoms

• Code 30 shows
• No assist
• Display may freeze or reset

How to fix it

1. Switch off and check every connector you can reach is clean, dry and pushed fully home.
2. Switch the bike off, wait 10 seconds and switch it on again.
3. Look for pinched or damaged cables at the handlebar and steerer.
4. If the code stays, your dealer can run a Bafang BESST diagnostic test, try another display or cable, or update the controller.

Have it checked if reseating connectors does not help.
